Equivalent model of multi-type distributed generators under faults with fast-iterative calculation method based on improved PSO algorithm

Abstract There are various types of distributed generators (DGs) with different grid integration strategies. The transient characteristics the fault currents provided by DGs to those conventional synchronous generators. In this paper, a distribution network multi-type is investigated, including consideration DG low-voltage ride through (LVRT). current two typical DGs, i.e. an inverter-interfaced generator (IIDG) and doubly-fed induction (DFIG), analyzed, considering specific operation modes. Based on analysis characteristics, equivalent model under symmetrical/asymmetrical conditions established. A fast-iterative calculation method for enhancing efficiency while avoiding local convergence then proposed using improved particle swarm optimization (PSO) algorithm. simulation system established in PSCAD/EMTDC. results validate high accuracy components. This can assist settings protection threshold.
